Stephen's Story
Hello fellow classmates. Well, many years have passed since the glory days at NTHS. Many things have taken place since then. After graduating, I took some time off from my schooling before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1993. I did my active duty time in Twenty-nine Palms, California (2/7 Weapons Company, CAAT Platoon), to which I had two six month deployments to Okinawa, Japan. One of the highlights from being in Okinawa, was that in 1995, I travelled to the Philippines to partake in the re-enactment of MacArthur's landing at Leyte. I later joined the Marine Reserve unit at Ft. Lewis (4th FSSG, 4th LSB). It is a whole new world going from the infantry side of the military to the logistcal side. On the infantry side I served as a Tube launched Optically tracked Wire-guided missle gunner (TOW Gunner). Generally used to destroy enemy tanks, and personnel carriers. an actually blow the turret off a tank and/or liftg the tank completely off the ground. On the logistical side, I was a member of Helicopter Support Team (HST). Generally consisted of hooking up supplies and equipment to the helicopters for transportation. Currently, I work for the Boeing Company in Renton, but live in Yelm, so "yes" the commute can be brutal at times. I am hoping to go back to school this coming January (2009) to finish up my third degree.
As for Stan, he had joined the Army (Aren't Real Marines Yet)...wanted to follow in our father's footstep. Within the past 9 months, Stan and his family have moved to Idaho. They have three children. A daughter from his previous marriage, and a son and daughter from his current marriage.
I hope all who read this are doing well, and I look forward to seeing you throughout my travels and future reunions.
Take care and God bless,
Stephen
